Deadman Brewery Tour

Covid has completely screwed up my plans to visit and tour all of the HK breweries, but with the recent re-openings, we've finally made it to a second brewery!

Deadman Brewery is located on the second floor of an industrial building in San Po Kong just a few minutes walk from the Diamond Hill MTR station. The entrance to the building is well marked (image below), but a bit hidden as it's unexpectedly inside the alley and not along the main road. Getting there was overall pretty easy. They open the brewery from 6-10pm every Friday (check with them first!) and for $300 you can get a tour and drink (many) tastings of whatever brews are available.

Neil and I were thirsty so we arrived at 6:01pm and were pretty much the first people to arrive. The brewery is very nice, but the tasting room really stole the show. Located behind a secret bookshelf, the tasting room features 6 taps and plenty of comfy seating as well as free darts, billiards and table tennis. It's a fun place to hang out.

We arrived so early that initially there were only two beers on tap. We started with a pale ale which was very nice, then tried the Pilsner.

Shortly after, the team put on a third keg which was the 7 Seas Sour IPA (thanks Ashwin!) which was pretty unique in that it has seven types of hops in a sour beer.

Shortly after 7pm the tasting room had filled up and we ordered delivery pizza, as did several other groups nearby and then enjoyed darts and annoyed everyone by chasing a ping pong ball throughout the room in a failed attempt at a table tennis match. Neil is terrible at table tennis.

Afterwards, several beer aficionados (Hi Dale, Michael and Aki!) requested a tour which we joined.

The tour started by tasting some of the more unique beers that Deadman has been releasing recently. DOOMSDAY is a collaboration with 852CBD and Deadman's sister company called Monsters and Robots (the brand

focus on CBD beers) which is a 6% Ginger Honey Dunkelweizen that boasts having 50mg of CBD as well as being the first beer in Hong Kong to also have CBG (a hemp component 20x more potent than CBD).

Next up was Dazed also from Monsters and Robots which is a 2.9% Session NEIPA with 55mg of CBD. This was nice- I could have drank this all night.

Next stop was the brewery itself where Deadman brews and kegs, but also has bottling and canning lines.

We were pretty lucky on our timing in that the 10% Pineapple Express Triple IPA was in a tank and ready to be kegg'ed the next day so the team was nice enough to let us taste it before the official release. Looks like they canned and kegg'ed it already since it's all over Facebook today!

This beer was delicious and quite strong, and from here on out things got a little blurry!

Overall visiting Deadman Brewery was a really good time. The facilities are great, the team was super fun and of course the beers were unique. It was awesome to check out first hand.
